Introducing kindness.earth
Welcome to kindness.earth! 🤗
Here I’ll be sharing the good news and trends I find during my research into net zero, clean energy, and the electrification of our world.
Smart, caring people are working hard everyday to create real progress on the issues facing our planet and we don’t see this reported or written about enough. I want to help change that.
We do a disservice to the amazing people improving our world and the love our elders showed us when we give in to the doom and gloom. We can acknowledge the challenges while celebrating the progress being made. Max Roser said it best in Our World In Data:
This article doesn’t sugarcoat things. Things are awful. But the data shows why we should be hopeful for the future and continue to push for a better world. We need more articles like this and we need to amplify the ones we've already been blessed with.
“The world is awful; this is why we need to know about progress”. Thank you, Max. I can’t imagine a better article to be the first link on kindness.earth. 💜
A little about me
Hello, I’m Dave. 👋🏼 I founded 1Password in 2005, and for nearly two decades I poured all my heart and soul into making 1Password the best password manager imaginable.
Recently I doubled down on my passion for customer support and created Kindness, a support system designed for companies like 1Password who truly care about helping their customers.
At 1Password our motto in customer support has always been kill ‘em with kindness, and this approach was instrumental in creating the best sales force imaginable: happy customers who were thrilled to spread the word.
This was wildly successful and was more fun for everybody. It's enjoyable creating connections with customers. I like to believe (and indeed I think it is true) that our approach made the world a little bit better. Once we come out of stealth mode, Kindness will help other companies to follow a similar path.
Both companies have amazing teams and that has allowed me to spend more time on rekindling my passion with nature. I’ve always been fascinated by nature, climate change, and the transformational power of electricity. My fascination has grown stronger year after year as technology advancements continue to demonstrate first hand that we can actually succeed.
The more I learn the more I believe we can prosper while respecting nature. We can win the climate battle. We can improve living standards and health. There is hope.
By sharing the news that motivates me along with the results of my projects, I hope to motivate you to become the change that you want to see in this world. However that looks for you, regardless of how big or small.
You can connect with me on Bluesky – a much nicer and kinder community than that other one that was taken from us. A great reminder that we must invest time and energy into supporting the communities and companies we want to exist.
P.s. It seemed fitting to launch kindness.earth on the first day of Canadian Spring. I’ll be planting my onion bulbs today and am looking forward to watching both them and kindness grow. 🌱
